چکیده

we find that that expression of claudin 5, a component of endothelial tight junctions, is dramatically down-regulated in Tal1-deficient embryos. Consistent with a defect in tight junction formation, localization of junctional components is disorganized in the Tal1-deficient endocardium. Therefore, we propose that Tal1 transcriptional targets regulate endocardial migration and tube extension through establishment of tight junctions.

A functional screen for genes involved in Xenopus pronephros development

In Xenopus, the pronephros is the functional larval kidney and consists of two identifiable components; the glomus, the pronephric tubules, which can be divided into four separate segments, based on marker gene expression. The simplicity of this organ, coupled with the fact that it displays the same basic organization and function as more complex mesonephros and metanephros, makes this an attra...

The role of XTRAP-γ in Xenopus pronephros development

We isolated and characterized the Xenopus translocon-associated protein XTRAP-γ, one of four subunits of the translocon-associated protein complex. TRAP has been proposed to aid the translocation of nascent polypeptides into the lumen of the endoplasmic reticulum, but this has not been demonstrated until now. XTRAP-γ was specifically expressed in the pronephros tubules of Xenopus laevis from st...

Annexin IV (Xanx-4) has a functional role in the formation of pronephric tubules.

Vertebrate kidney organogenesis is characterised by the successive formation of the pronephros, the mesonephros and the metanephros. The pronephros is the first to form and is the functional embryonic kidney of lower vertebrates; although it is vestigial in higher vertebrates, it is a necessary precursor for the other kidney types. The Xenopus pronephros is a simple paired organ; each nephron c...

Comparative Functional Analysis of ZFP36 Genes during Xenopus Development

ZFP36 constitutes a small family of RNA binding proteins (formerly known as the TIS11 family) that target mRNA and promote their degradation. In mammals, ZFP36 proteins are encoded by four genes and, although they show similar activities in a cellular RNA destabilization assay, there is still a limited knowledge of their mRNA targets and it is not known whether or not they have redundant functi...

Growing kidney in the frog.

An understanding of the regulation of kidney development has increased dramatically in the past decade. The pronephros, mesonephros, and metanephros represent three distinct renal organs that function, in succession, as the vertebrate excretory system during development of the kidney. These three organ systems are derived from the intermediate mesoderm and develop in a well-defined temporal and...
